Who are Quirk Design & Build?
Quirk Design & Build are a family run business that specialises in home extensions, kitchen designs and refurbishments and garage conversions. With over 20 years of experience in residential design and build across multi-disciplines, and what sets us apart from others is that we have gained an understanding of the true values of how to run a successful project and the real wants and needs of our clients and their families. This has developed into our four key principles that guides all our work:
Communication
We believe that communication is the key to a successful building project and it is vital that this is put in place from the offset and continues through your project. We ensure that you have just one point of contact and that you are continuously informed at the appropriate time.
Transparency
Transparency is the outcome of effective communication that further cements a strong working relationship. This is why we produce a full schedule of work that breaks down the project into simple tasks and clearly shows the costs involved to carry them out.
This then correlates to a payment plan making it clear what to expect. We also issue all of the necessary paperwork to give you full piece of mind throughout your project.
Workmanship
Working on a residential project requires meticulous attention to detail. While constructing the building is important, the aesthetic features are what catch people’s attention and generate conversation.
We take immense pride in our work on the detail in the various elements of the build to give our projects unique feel that reflect our commitment to quality.
Our Clients
Our top priority is the satisfaction of our clients and the potential for future referrals. We strive to ensure that you’ve had an enjoyable experience while building your dream home, and that we’ve gone above and beyond to make it a reality.
For this reason, we set aside time at the conclusion of your project to gather feedback and suggestions from our clients, as we continuously strive to improve our services.
Our Design & Build Process
Initial Design Consultation
This is a key phase in every building project, as it enables us to understand the clients’ vision and requirements. In this stage, we hold detailed discussions with the client about the projects size, scope, and complexity. We also discuss the project’s cost, helping the client establish a budget that suits their needs and desired project outcome.
Additionally, we go over the project’s timeline, pinpointing significant milestones. Moreover, we discuss the building’s interiors with an emphasis on the kitchen and living areas and bathroom design to ensure the final product meets the client’s expectations. Our emphasis on open and honest communication with clients sets everything off to a great start establishing a great foundation and moves the project forward in the right direction from the offset.
Design & Detailed Plans
The first step in any construction or renovation project is to create detailed plans and drawings. We can appoint our architect to work with you to design your building or space and ensure that the plans comply with local building codes and regulations.
They will also help you determine the cost of the proposed project, ensuring that it stays within your budget. Additionally, our structural engineer can be consulted to take care of the structural elements such as removing walls and adding openings for glazing. Depending on your location, you may also need to undertake a planning application with your local council which we will also cover at this stage.

Interior Design & Furnishings
During this phase, we’ll assist you with the 2 keys areas of your home first – the designing the kitchen and bathrooms with the associated wall and floor coverings and any other interior finishes. We’ll work with you to determine the type and style of design you’re looking for, while also keeping budget considerations in mind.
Our goal is to ensure that the level of investment for the specification you require is clear before the build stage, so that everything has been covered and you can move forward with confidence. We’ll produce a cost estimate for the interiors part of the work, so you’ll know what to expect and can make any necessary adjustments before the construction phase begins.
Managed Build Process
By this stage everything has been planned and costed. Architects drawings have been produced along with planning approval in place, structural details have been finalised and the kitchen and bathrooms will also have been fully designed.
At this point we can move on to the build stage and here you will have full peace of mind that everything has been planned and costed. We will create a program of works with associated timelines and your build will be fully project managed all the way through to completion.
We’ll work closely with you to ensure that everything is progressing as planned, and that any issues that arise are addressed promptly. Our goal is to ensure that the building process is as stress-free as possible, and that the finished product meets or exceeds your expectations.
